SCATS (Sri Lankan Study Centre for the Advancement of Technology and Social Welfare Inc., Australia) has commemorated 30 years of social services and community building in Australia — a remarkable milestone for any volunteer community organisation.
Founder and former president Mr Gamini Perera joined SBS Sinhala Radio to discuss the social welfare projects that had been done for Australia and Sri Lanka during these 30 years.
“I am immensely proud to be the founder president of SCATS Australia and to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, which is a significant achievement for any community organisation,” said Mr Perera.
“In 1992, SCATS was founded by a handful of professionals and today it has grown into a community organisation that serves Sri Lankans and the wider Australian community in the fields of Arts, Religion, Culture, Sports and Innovation.”
An integral part of SCATS’ core objectives is the welfare of senior members. SCATS contributes to this worthy cause by providing opportunities for seniors to meet, exercise and improve their knowledge.
SCATS looks forward to the next 30 years of service to the Sri Lankan Australian community.
